At the beginning of the movie The Italian Job the lead character is asked how they are feeling. They reply “fine”, only to be reminded that in their context; it’s the acronym for:
To be honest, I’ve felt them in life at times. Maybe as I’ve approached a new adventure, more study at a higher level, a new job, or even moving home.
The brilliant thing is, that we have no need to feel that way when we are doing life with God. The opposite is true. We have a peace which is available in Him which is like nothing you have ever experienced before.
In my walk with God, He has proved to be strongly practical and met me in ways that seem tangible, especially when under pressure. The Bible is filled with stories of men and women doing life in the culture of their day, which sound pretty similar to ours at times. It talks about the ugly things of their day, their struggles, battles and their overcoming nature. It is filled with stories of breakthrough and everyday people doing extraordinary feats.
So, it is today, that I want to encourage you to look up from what you see before you. Maybe your first reaction is to feel freaked out by the enormity of a task, or insecure about your ability. But instead ask yourself what the Bible says about it. I think you’ll find it says things like be strong and courageous or you are fearfully and wonderfully made. His book is filled with truths to counteract the F.I.N.E you may be wresting with today.
So next time you find yourself slipping into a freaked out, insecure, neurotic or emotional state, fall into God and His Word; and ask Him what He has to say about the matter
